Shira is a fourth-grade teacher at High Tech High Elementary Explorer in San Diego, California and an editor for Unboxed.

Shira is driven by creating an engaged and student-centered learning experience for her students and sharing ideas for good teaching among the adult learning community. Prior to pursuing a career in education, Shira worked as an integrated media planner at a media firm in New York City.

Shira is originally from San Diego, California and is happy to be back in the sunshine and close to the ocean. Outside of teaching elementary school, Shira is a yoga instructor, a plant lover, and a puzzle aficionado.

Shira hold a Bachelors in Gender and Feminist Studies from Pitzer College in Claremont, California and a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from University of San Diego in San Diego, California.
